Luis Yllanes was born in Peru to a Peruvian mother and a Peruvian father. At the age of 5, he moved to United States with his mother and grandmother. During his teen years at school in New Jersey, Yllanes spent his weekends doing odd jobs; cashier, printing and design to save up money for traveling. It was during college when Yllanes placed his hands on his first camera. His serious interest in photography emerged whilst working in a college newspaper during being involved in a print newsroom while at college.
His interest later shifted from social commentary to a more narrative based, celebrity photography during his studies at a University in Wayne, NJ in the U.S. It was shortly after finishing his studies that he was signed to Corbis Images, with whom he works for over 4 years whilst commuting between Wayne and New York City. Throughout his time with Corbis, he has traveled for work to France, Boston, Washington D.C. Connecticut and Miami.
Since then Yllanes has become an established name within the entertainment industry with an impressive work ethic, with work featuring for such publications as Harpers Bazaar US, People Magazine, US Weekly Magazine, New York Post, Vogue, GQ USA, New York Daily News, Daily Mail Online, Vanity Fair and EOnline!
Yllanes has also become a firm favorite with celebrities, and has shot cover stars such as Blake Lively, Michelle Williams, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Aniston, Rihanna, Nicole Kidman and Kate Upton to name but a few.

In 2011, Yllanes had his first exhibition; A Moment of Truth, at The Art Factory gallery in Silk City.
